Our History
Furever Ferrets began over 12 years ago when Dawn said yes to helping one ferret in need. That one yes turned into a lifelong commitment.
Since then, more than 300 ferrets have been rescued and rehomed, with 20-40 in our care at any given time. Some go on to loving homes, while others stay with us for life due to age or medical needs.
Every ferret who comes through our doors is treated like family, because that’s exactly what they become.
Our Story (From the Ferrets’ Hammock 💤)
This is our super human.
She calls herself Dawn, but really she’s our chauffeur, nurse, snack lady, toy supplier, and full-time problem solver.
She makes sure our bowls are full, our beds are warm, and we get to the vet on time (even when we strongly disagree with that plan).
She patches us up when we come in scared or sick, gives us patience when we’re wild little chaos noodles, and helps us learn how to trust again.
Some of us go on to find forever families. Some of us need more time And some of us stay right here, where she makes sure we’re safe, comfortable, and loved for life.
She also somehow does all of this while raising a daughter, having a life outside of ferrets, (rude) cleaning a house, running fundraisers, and do laundry nonstop because… well… we’re ferrets.
This rescue didn’t start as a plan.
It started because one ferret needed help.
Then another. And another.
Dawn just kept saying yes, even when it was hard.
That’s why this place isn’t just a rescue or a shelter.
It’s a home. We love her.
We think you will too.

What Drives Us
Our Mission
We rescue ferrets who have been abandoned, surrendered, or left with nowhere else to go. Some find new forever homes.
Others stay with us for life. No matter their path, every ferret in our care is given safety, medical support, and the time they need to feel secure again.

Some ferrets need a little extra time before they’re ready for adoption. Fostering gives them a safe, calm place to land while they heal, learn, and decompress. It’s one of the most meaningful ways to help, and we guide you every step of the way.

Every ferret in our care has been given time, medical support, and patience to help them thrive. Adoption isn’t just about finding a pet, it’s about matching the right ferret with the right home so everyone succeeds.

Keep the Burrows Full and the Lights On
Daily care adds up quickly. Food, litter, enrichment, and veterinary care are ongoing needs for every ferret here. Donations help us provide consistent, compassionate care for ferrets at every stage of life.
